Job SummaryThe Corporate Finance Intern reports to the Assistant Corporate Controller and will work closely with the Global Accounting and Financial teams on various monthly close and reporting tasks as well as corporate projects. Internship Learning Objectives: The desired outcome of each internship experience is to gain practical experience in a professional environment. Our responsibility is to guide motivated, career driven students and strengthen their understanding of the business atmosphere with the objective of providing an atmosphere that encourages the development of specific skill sets that will enhance the students’ value to future employers. The learning objectives associated with this internship included, but are not limited to the following:
Gain insight into professionalism within an accounting organization of a publicly listed technology company.
Learn methods of analyzing the general ledger and how information is integrated into the financial statements.
Develop techniques to reconcile accounting on the general ledger and how to resolve discrepancies.
Gain an understanding of the accounting systems and the monthly accounting and reporting cycle.
Gain a further understanding of the Sarbanes Oxley audit requirements and assist management with documentation needed to test the operating effectiveness of various internal controls.
Learn the process of documenting work performed on projects and communicating effectively with supervisors and other company personnel.
Develop a skill set of gathering questions and asking appropriate personnel for assistance.
Develop skills required to interact with other professionals at varying levels throughout the company.
Develop time management skills and the ability to be responsible for more than one project at a time.
Financial reporting; compile and distribute management reports
Financial analysis and accounting; assist with monthly close procedures
Internal controls evaluation; update and execute an internal audit test plan
Research; ad-hoc technical accounting and reporting research projects
Accounting systems; assist with Blackline close task module implementation project
New Accounting requirements; assist with new Lease accounting implementation project
Foreign Currency Revaluation policy and procedures; research, update and execute FX policy and procedures
Current MBA student
Pursuing undergrad degree in Accounting or Finance with graduation date in 2019
