Prysmian Group Shipping Associate in Willimantic, Connecticut

Overview:

Each Associate is required to demonstrate personal commitment to the standards set forth in Prysmian’s Code of Ethics and Compliance guidelines and use sound judgment in maintaining appropriate compliance procedures and in carrying out their duties with honesty, in compliance with laws, company policies and standards. This job description contains the major responsibilities of the Shipping Associate. It does not capture every task that could potentially be assigned to this role. Every associate is expected to follow the instructions of supervision.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare, identify, wrap and/or package material for shipments from either written or verbal orders.

• Safely load and unload trucks and perform similar material handling functions using appropriate tools and procedures

• Complete all pertinent shipping documentation.

• Check quantities of materials, labels and shipping instructions for accuracy.

• Transport material as designated.

• Operate inventory management systems and tools to move material

• Inspect, observe, and monitor equipment and materials for defects, damage or malfunction.

• Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories as required

• Ensure product, materials, supplies and equipment are not damaged during transport.

• Obtain and/or maintain license/certification to operate fork truck as well as stand-up truck.

• Review and complete all required documentation and records.

• Demonstrate the ability to meet the minimum mental and physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Complete other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school diploma, GED

  • Reliable transportation

  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, stooping, and bending is required

  • Must be able to work independently and distinguish colors

  • Must have good English skills in reading, writing and communicating

  • Must be able to work in a team environment and to work overtime as the need arises

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check, drug test, and physical examination

Preferred:

  • Prior Warehouse experience with the ability to prioritize and pay close attention to detail

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Will be required to stand, walk, and bend frequently.

  • Occasionally required to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds as needed.

  • Employee will be required to work productively and cooperatively in a high-volume, fast paced, highly pressured environment and be able to respond efficiently and courteously to unanticipated problems and crisis.
