Position Title and Salary:       Court Services Officer I, Grade 36, $26.74 hourly

Job Duties:   This employment requires the supervision of adults and juveniles placed on probation by the District Courts.  This includes the preparation of detailed adult and juvenile investigative reports for the District Court.  An incumbent in this position maintains chronological records of contacts with offenders and of the caseload in general, prepares reports related to the transfer of supervision, progress reports, and reports of violations of probation.  Supervision, counseling, and report writing skills will be used daily.  Collection of urine and/or saliva samples will be required for conducting drug tests and DNA samples.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief CSO or the court. This position will likely split time between Pottawatomie and Jackson Counties.

Required Education and Experience:   Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in social services such as psychology, counseling, sociology and criminology or a closely related field.

Preferred qualifications:   Experience in probation services, case management with certifications for LS/CMI, YLS, WRNA and EPICS are preferred.  Good verbal and written communication skills.   Computer knowledge and experience is necessary.

Note:   Successful candidate must be able to pass a fingerprint-based criminal background check.
