Job Summary and Qualifications

The Behavioral Health Social Services Manager plans, organizes, directs, defines, and coordinates clinical services necessary to meet the legal, organizational, and regulatory guidelines in order to provide effective therapeutic care to behavioral health patients. The Behavioral Health Social Services Manager is responsible for managing the social work and activity therapy staff to establish and maintain therapeutic programing and coordination of care with other departments and the community..D

  • Leads the social work and activity therapy departments

  • Assists in the development and implementation of new clinical policies or programs.

  • Oversees completion and analysis of patient outcomes on admission and discharge.

  • Assist with referral development and community education activities.

  • Has a thorough knowledge of current clinical diagnosis and can evaluate clinical symptoms, developmental and personality disorders, severity of psychosocial stressors and global functioning and address medical conditions as they affect patient’s functioning.

  • Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team.

  • Oversees the development of master treatment plans and updates.

  • Attends patient treatment planning and execution of treatment regimes.

  • Participates in discharge planning and aftercare planning. Makes necessary contacts with community resources to ensure continuity of care.

  • Plans and arranges admission to special care facilities as indicated by physician’s request/patient needs.

  • Documents according to policies and procedures, including all clinical sessions held with patient and patient’s family members.

  • Interviews patients and families to obtain social histories and assures completion of psychosocial assessment in timeframes given by policy and guidelines.

  • Conducts individual, group, and family sessions for patients as indicated in the patient treatment plan.

  • Facilitates family meetings to address the needs of the patient and family as it relates to discharge planning.

  • Support and protect the rights of each patient served and observes for abuse and reports to the appropriate authority as needed.

  • Has comprehensive and current knowledge of community resources for supplementary treatment of clients and makes referrals which adequately utilize these resources.

  • As a crisis prevention intervention trained staff member, responds appropriately to a manpower request.

  • Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented approach to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.

  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.

  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.

  • Leads in a way that inspires commitment to the vision/mission/values of the organization. Implements evidence-based employee engagement practices.

  • Reviews various feedback mechanisms and helps identify opportunities to improve customer/patient satisfaction. Supports the development and implementation of strategies to elevate the patient experience.

  • Provides leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience. Instills accountability for providing consistent, positive patient interactions that differentiate the organization as a healthcare leader.

  • Identifies development opportunities or training needs of individual employees and teams. Provides coaching, feedback, and training to improve performance.

  • Builds a competitively superior organization through attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining talent. Ensures people with the right skills and motivations are in the right role, at the right time, to meet business needs.

  • Models a Trauma Informed Care approach

  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work

  • 5+ years’ acute care experience, 2+ years’ leadership experience

  • State of Florida LCSW Required

  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention required within 30 days of hire Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Grace 30 days after hire Required

  • Finger Print Background Required
