Job Title: Veteran Directed Care Attendant (VDC Program)
Status: Per-Diem, Hourly
Reports To: Individual Veteran/Authorized Representative
Purpose: A VDC Care Attendant is hired to assist an elderly and/or disabled veteran to maintain quality of life in their home and is tasked with a wide range of care needs for each veteran. Each task will be specific to the veteran’s needs and directed by the veteran or their authorized representative.
Essential Functions:
The goal is to assist elderly/disabled veterans in completing daily living activities such as:
Grooming & Hygiene 6. Mobility/Transfers
Dressing 7. Toileting
Wellness Activities 8. Community Errands
Cooking & Housekeeping 9. Health Maintenance
Community Socialization 10. Lawn care/Snow Shoveling
VDC Care Attendants are expected to:
Complete tasks in a responsible, prompt, and courteous manner.
Maintain confidentiality and do not discuss veteran issues with anyone else.
Report to work on time and respect the veteran’s home, possessions, lifestyle, and individual choices.
Utilize Medisked for all timekeeping.
Request time off in advance, providing the consumer with a two-week notice before vacations, appointments, etc. This will allow time for the veteran to find alternate care.
In the case of an illness or emergency, call your veteran as soon as possible, but absolutely no later than one hour before work.
Experience and Qualifications:
Be at least 18 years of age and have a social security number.
Perform tasks as stated on the individual care plan.
Be willing and able to pass a background check.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Perform the functions discussed with the veteran at the interview.
