Graphic Packaging International Supvr. Maint. / Planner II (Mill) in United States

The GPI-Kalamazoo MI 100% Recycled Clay-coated Paperboard Mill is looking for a new team member. We are looking for someone who has a passion for safety, who is a self starter, who takes initiative, who can communicate with all employees, and who can work independently in a manufacturing environment. You will be part of the team that drives for a safe work place, for continuous improvement, and for success. The GPI-Kalamazoo Mill, with 2 paper machines, is the largest producer of Clay-coated Recycled Boxboard in the US. The mills product is used primarily to package dry foods such as cereal. Adjacent to the mill is a large GPI printing plant.

  • Enforces adherence to GPI policies (HR, Safety, etc.)

  • Ensuring that craftspeople conduct ownership/T Card routes in timely manner and to the expected standards.

  • Ensures that craftspeople identify work requirements observed (during their routes, while carrying out work orders, or made during general observation of the equipment) and enter appropriate notifications in SAP resulting from these observations, in a timely manner (same day).

  • Ensures that craftspeople enter time confirmations and close (TECO) work orders (where appropriate) in SAP at the end of each day.

  • Provides individual training to craftspeople in the use of SAP as necessary.

  • Ensures that craftspeople have the necessary skills and experience to carry out their intended maintenance functions. Arranges appropriate training as necessary.

  • Mentors craftspeople through frequent informal overseeing of their activities at job sites during the day.

  • Leads morning and evening tailgate talks.

  • Approves time and overtime.

  • Ensures that ownership/T Card Routes are valid and complete for the equipment under his/her supervision through periodic auditing and liaison with Reliability Engineer and Planner during all new equipment installation and modification.

  • Validates, approves and prioritizes notifications based on formal specific criteria in conjunction with the area Planner and Operations Supervisor during the daily MOPS meeting.

  • Updates Operations Supervisor and Planner of current work schedule progress during the daily MOPS meeting.

  • Creates the weekly work schedule in SAP using the MS Project/Vesta PMM interface and gains approval for the schedule from Operations Supervision and distributes to Operations.

  • Distributes work orders to as necessary.

  • Audits and reviews job quality and provide feedback to craftspeople and GPI Contract Manager.

  • Holds craftspeople and contractors accountable for performance, process, safety and job quality variances.

  • Manages break in work with Operations Supervision and redirects craftspeople as required to accommodate validated break in needs. Updates scheduled work to accommodate changes resulting from break in work.

  • Manages and accountable for maintenance execution KPI variances

  • Provides input to RCFA/A3/etc. activities lead by the Reliability Engineer as necessary, and ensures relevant output from such activity is adopted.

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4 year institution in Engineering or related field and 5-10 years maintenance experience including:

  • Computer Maintenance Management Systems use and implementation

  • Planning and Scheduling

  • Preventative/Predicative/Precision Maintenance

  • Proven track record of identifying opportunities and the ability to recommend and implement improvements.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word

  • Must be a leader with exceptional communication skills, good organization, and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
