Position Description Summary
APT Research is looking for a highly qualified Software Safety Engineer for our defense division. This position is 100% remote. Applicants should have extensive knowledge of S&MA disciplines with a focus on Software Safety and Hazard Classification. This position requires technical experience in the execution of hazard analysis, a knowledge of missile systems, specific knowledge of Software Safety Assessment Reports.

The responsibilities include the following:
Prepare program software safety documentation for an advanced Air Force Missile system.
Evaluate software to identify Safety Critical Functionality.
Prepare an overall safety assessment identifying risks attributed to or controlled by software.
Define Level of Rigor for safety function testing.
Required Experience/Education:
15 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, aeronautics, safety or a closely related technical discipline
Knowledge in MIL-STD-882E, DoD JSSSEH, and AFI 95-205
Experience in software testing
Experience working with software requirements
Preparing Software Safety Assessment Reports
Preparing software documentation
Security Clearance Requirement:
US Citizenship
Secret Clearance
Preferred Experience:
Air Force Missile programs experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate well with different levels of management, including presentation skills
Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment and deliver high quality products on schedule
Ability to resolve complex problems and develop innovation solutions
