Hatch is seeking to hire aSenior Civil Engineer to join our Underground Infrastructure Group,In this role you will have the opportunity work on a variety of Infrastructure projects in the GTA.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning, design, coordination, and implementation of public and private utilities treatment, site drainage and preparation, traffic maintenance and property acquisition definition work, across a wide range of public transit projects including tunnel and rail based infrastructure;

  • Ensure that project design solutions are delivered to the highest standards and meet program and budgetary constraints;

  • Plan resourcing for projects and monitoring against budgets;

  • Prepare and monitor work programs to deliver projects within deadlines;

  • Responsible to liaise with external agencies and consultant as well as other internal disciplines for large projects; understanding the scope of the project as a whole, methods of construction/installation, and impact on existing conditions;

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining excellent client relationships;

  • Responsible for proposal writing and associated work plan and schedule input as needed;

  • Responsible for report and specification writing, tender document creation for various infrastructure projects;

  • Support 3DCAD/BIM modelling capability within the Civil team;

  • Active involvement in client management and business development;

  • Provide sound technical leadership;

  • Mentor and develop junior staff, fostering a team approach;

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, with a degree from an accredited university in Civil, Mechanical, or Water Resources Engineering or in another relevant discipline;

  • 10+ years of experience in the Engineering design and management of utility, municipal, rail, road, and tunnel infrastructure projects in a consultant environment;

  • Experience in managing civil engineering projects such as installation of watermains, sanitary and sewer infrastructure, roadwork, traffic maintenance or related fields;

  • Experience in infrastructure planning;

  • Solid understanding of Engineering concepts such as geometric design, grading, permitting, coordination with utility companies, and the production of utility schemes of accommodation, and roadway drainage design;

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook);

  • Experience in the production of plans, specifications, and Engineering estimates for infrastructure projects;

  • Established working relationship with various clients such as municipalities is an asset;

  • Experience interfacing with local agencies is an asset;

  • Technically strong working within multi-disciplinary teams in large projects ;

  • Experienced in project management, report, and proposal writing;

  • Ability to concurrently lead design teams on a variety of projects;

  • Track record of delivering infrastructure projects to quality standards, with respect to budget and schedules;

  • Team-oriented individual willing to assist with a wide range of projects and work with multiple project managers across multiple disciplines;

  • Ability to communicate confidently, professionally, and respectfully with all levels of staff and clients (written and verbal);

  • Ambitious and self-motivated;
