Position Description Summary

APT Research is looking for a Junior System Safety Engineer to join our defense division. Applicants should have knowledge of S&MA disciplines with a focus on System Safety.

The responsibilities include the following:

• Prepare program safety documentation for an advanced Air Force Missile system

• Generate hazard reports/safety assessments including supporting documentation

• Assist in preparing inputs to a Programmatic Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE)

• Assist in preparing inputs to Threat Hazard Assessment (THA)

  Required Experience/Education:

• 4 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, aeronautics, safety or a closely related technical discipline

• Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E and MIL-STD-2105

• Hazard report generation

• Safety assessments experience

  Security Clearance Requirement:

• US Citizenship

• Secret Clearance

  Preferred Experience:

• Background in Air Force Missile Programs

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate well with different levels of management, including presentation skills

• Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment and deliver high quality products on schedule

• Ability to resolve complex problems and develop innovation solutions

  Travel Requirements:

• Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <15%

  Physical Requirements:

• Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk

• Ability to lift >15 lbs.

  Other Essential Functions:

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement

• Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
