Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Crowd Safety and Security in the music venue sector. The ideal candidate will be Responsible for overseeing and implementing effective crowd management and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of patrons, staff, and performers during events at all AMG venues. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of crowd dynamics, safety regulations, and current security policies.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of patrons and staff at our venues.

Who you are

Competencies / Skills / Knowledge / Experience

  • Proven experience in crowd management or event safety, in the music or entertainment industry.

  • Minimum of Level 5 Certification in crowd safety management.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively motivate and manage a diverse team of third-party contractors.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.

  • In-depth knowledge of crowd behaviour, risk assessment techniques, and relevant safety regulations and standards.

  • Ability to remain calm and make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations.

  • Proficiency in relevant software applications for incident reporting, scheduling, and communication.

  • Ability to self-motivate and to work remotely.

  • Comfortable with UK travel across all venue sites.

What the role includes

  • Develop and implement comprehensive crowd safety plans for all events hosted at the music venues, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Lead a team of crowd safety personnel at each venue, including training, scheduling, and supervision, to ensure efficient execution of safety protocols.

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of venue spaces and event layouts to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with event organisers, promoters, and local authorities to coordinate emergency response procedures and evacuation plans.

  • Monitor crowd behaviour and dynamics during events, intervening proactively to prevent overcrowding, conflicts, or other safety hazards.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to crowd safety, and incorporate relevant changes into venue policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular audits of safety equipment, such as barriers, exits, and emergency lighting, to ensure functionality and compliance with standards.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for crowd safety and security related enquiries and incidents, providing prompt and effective communication to stakeholders as needed.

  • Foster a culture of security awareness and accountability among venue staff and patrons through education, training, and proactive communication.
