The American College of Financial Services Graduate Assistant in United States

A Graduate Assistantship is an employment opportunity designed for/offered to prospective or currently enrolled graduate students to provide degree-related, experiential learning and/or work. Graduate Assistantships have one of the following primary categories: 1) Research Assistant, 2) Teaching Assistant, or 3) Marketing & Administrative Assistant.  

Graduate Programs:

  • Master of Science of Financial Planning

  • Master of Science of Management / Leadership

  • Chartered Leadership Fellow® (CLF®)

  • Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®)  

    This Graduate Assistant is under the supervision of CAP® Graduate Program Directors in performing the following tasks as assigned:  

    Teaching

  • Provide reviews, comments, and grades for assigned course student’s assignments.

  • Facilitate study group meetings and discussion boards

  • Copyediting course teaching slides

  • Copyediting course teaching materials

     

    Marketing & Administrative

  • Outreach and recruiting of prospective students. 

  • Assisting in the development of social media and print marketing materials

  • Assisting in the dissemination of marketing materials via social media postings, announcements, listserv communication, etc.

  • Supporting the creation of presentations and presentation materials

  • Coordinate speaking engagements with industry professional associations.

  • Develop email marketing letters

  • Maintain speaking engagement schedules

  • Assist with general office duties, side projects, and other office tasks as needed

     

    Research

  • Screen research articles to determine if they are directly related to our research questions and inclusion criteria.

  • Compiling bibliographies of major articles from business magazines, trade journals, and general-interest periodicals.

  • Prepare necessary primary or secondary data.

  • Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data

  • Check other research team members screening decisions.

  • Code/take notes on research articles that are included for analysis.

  • Complete other tasks related to conducting a systematic review.

  • Writes and edits materials for publication and presentation.

  • Meets with a faculty supervisor on regular basis to maintain ongoing communication regarding the quality of the assistant's performance

    Requirements:

  • Must be proficient at typing and using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and Google Sheets/Docs. 

  • Must be familiar with reading research articles.

  • Must have good communication and organizational skills.

  • Must maintain student confidentiality and compliance with College data privacy policies. 

  • Minimum 3.0 or above GPA.

  • A commitment of 20 hours/ week.

  • Graduate degree in Financial Planning, Leadership, Management, Economics, Statistics, or General Business Administration.

  • Must be timely and responsive to requests by faculty and students.

     

    Hours:

  • Flexible hours based on the student’s schedule.
