Singapore American School Casual General Theater Technician in United States

The General Theater Technician (Casual) is responsible for providing general lighting, AV and stage management support to the Performance Spaces in Singapore American School across a range of theatrical productions, during the rehearsals, run and post-production periods.

The role also provides support for the on-going maintenance of the Theater Department, creating and updating paperwork and will serve as the main point contact for all Elementary Theater and MPH events.

Singapore American School puts on a variety of Performing Arts events every year, including Dance, Music, Drama, and Musical Theater performances.

We host them in a variety of venues, including:

  • Auditorium - an 840 seat, our Constellation-equipped proscenium theater

  • Drama Theater - a 305 seat, Greek amphitheater styled theater

  • Theater Studio - a 120 seat black box flexible performance space

  • Our Brand New Elementary Theater - a 350 - 650 seat proscenium theater

  • Our Brand New Elementary Multipurpose Hall

    Contract and hours of work

  • Casual Flex hours, min 4 hour call (paid at an hourly rate)

  • Entitled to breaks, OT and rest based on Government regulations.

  • Shifts offered are completely dependent on the needs of the school and applicant will be informed of their shifts in good time to respect a good work-life balance.

  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.

    Requirements:

  • General competencies in basic Lighting and AV equipment to support the set up and operation of presentations and performances

  • Can support theater staff when building set / setting up a stage.

  • Ability and willingness to work safely at heights.

  • A high level of understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and procedures as related to the theater and entertainment industries.

  • Perform other duties or appropriate requests as assigned by the Theater Coordinator.

  • Support students and provide feedback to help them improve as technicians (through the support of the Theater Coordinator)

Optional Qualifications

  • Vertical upright platform lift license

  • Qualification in Technical Theater
