Job Summary

The Budget Manager, under direction, will assist in managing the five colleges/schools and seven non­academic departments' budgetary requirements that report to the Office of Academic Affairs. The responsibilities will be tailored to assist in the review of financial documents and ensure the organization remains in compliance with financial goals and obligations.

The Budget Manager will monitor and work collectively with the Associate Vice President of Financial Services, Chief Budget Officer and the Assistant Provost to manage departmental accounts and submit budgetary actions on behalf of the units. The job will require a more active role in budgetary review and submission in the accounting systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors revenues and expenditures during the fiscal year and coordinates budget activities through the fiscal year closing. Assists the Associate Vice President of Financial Services, Chief Budget Officer and the Assistant Provost to plan and implement budget strategies for Academic Affairs.

  • Interprets budget and financial information, rules, policies, and procedures.

  • Plans, manages, and supervises training and holds quarterly meetings with the Business Administrative Coordinators reporting to the Colleges and non-academic units under Academic Affairs on applications or as needed.

  • Assists the Associate Vice President of Financial Services, Chief Budget Officer and the Assistant Provost in monitoring all logistical support activities for the Office for Academic Affairs to ensure workflow continuity and timely completion of work assignments.

  • Provides a bi-monthly report to colleges and units of their account balances. Submits account transfers as needed, in absence of the Business Administrative Coordinators. Training colleges/schools on summer school budgetary preparation. Assists in reconciling Academic Affairs accounts.

  • Coordinates and evaluates business processes.

  • Assists with monitoring units reporting under Academic Affairs annual departmental budgets.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education – Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience – Five years of related experience.

Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Supervision of Others

This position generally supervises employees.
