Empire State University Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management in Various Locations, New York

Empire State University's School of Business is currently seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management to join the Department of Management and Human Resource Management. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the department and participate in the offering of a program in Hospitality Management that serves learners across New York State and, through the university's robust online course offerings, around the world. Full-time faculty in the undergraduate programs at SUNY Empire have responsibilities for student advising (mentoring), in addition to teaching, service and research responsibilities. Teaching assignments are expected to be a mix of face-to-face, hybrid and online.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and teaching face-to-face and online courses in Hospitality Management.

  • Offering independent studies in the field of Hospitality Management.

  • Mentoring and advising students as they develop degree programs.

  • Participating in curriculum development and academic assessment in the Department of Management and Human Resource Management.

  • Participation in university service.

  • Development and maintenance of an active research agenda.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Hospitality Management or related field from an institutionally accredited U.S. university or comparable non-U.S. university. ABD considered.

  • College-level teaching experience.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity in higher education.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning.

  • Professional experience in the Hospitality Management field.

  • Experience in online and blended teaching modalities.

  • A record of scholarly engagement and an established research agenda.

  • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.

Special Information:

  • Office hours will vary to accommodate students' needs.

  • Teaching in the evening may be required.

  • Some travel and overnights required (2-4 nights per year to attend university-wide meetings)

    Additional Information:

Rank/Salary: Tenure-track, Assistant Professor, 12-month appointment, $75,000.
