About the Role

The General Accountant is responsible for various general accounting tasks.

Your Responsibilities

  • Process expense reports through Concur, Magna’s electronic system for capturing, submitting, and approving of expenses, including tracking of travel incentives.

  • Prepare all applicable recurring and standard monthly journal entries, including updating Magna’s required statistical template.

  • Update allocation templates and prepare all corresponding entries.

  • Prepare journal entries for all banking transactions, including cash receipts and payments, and processing payments received within ESE’s accounting system.

  • Prepare wire transfer requests or vendors to be paid in foreign currency.

  • Prepare weekly cash flow and report to Corporate Treasury using an online system, Integrity.

  • Perform inter-company reconciliations monthly and provide assistance to divisions in solving out-of-balance issues to ensure intercompany balances remain in balance.

  • Prepare and accumulate all month end account reconciliations, including income statements, balance sheets and bank reconciliations.

  • Provide support to the Accounting Department & staff, as needed, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, journal entries and generating financial reports.

  • Manages Corporate charges such as Corporate IT expenses, cell phone charges or air travel expenses.

  • Assist in preparing annual audit and tax packages, including preparation of ESE’s year end CMF (Controller Model File).

  • Manage and update mapping between ESE’s local accounting system and OneStream (Magna’s consolidation System).

  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by Controller or Director of Accounting.

  • Organize accounting storage area and send/recall boxes from storage.

Education/Skills/Special Knowledge – Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Excellent knowledge of Excel and Word. Good working knowledge and familiarity with Solomon (Microsoft Dynamics accounting software) preferred. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, effective organizational skills and must be detail oriented.

Experience – At least 5 years of experience in similar accounting position. Automotive experience preferred. Comfortable working individually, or with a team, in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Physical Demands/Work Environment – Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Minimal travel.
