Northwest Michigan Works Regional Director of Youth Services in Traverse City, Michigan

Northwest Michigan Works! is seeking a full time Regional Director of Youth Services.  This role will provide senior-level leadership, supervision and support for all youth specific and Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG) programming. Serve as the agency's subject matter expert, and conduit for youth programming amongst stakeholders and partners. Foster intentional program growth aimed at maximum, positive impact for youth and young adults in northwest lower Michigan.

 

Some of the core responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Direct and oversee all youth-specific programming for Northwest Michigan Works!, including WIOA Youth, JMG, and other related special initiatives for youth and young adults.
  • Develop and lead a high functioning youth services team as they work to implement program objectives. Ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Serve as the agency's lead for the Career and Educational Advisory Council (CEAC), subcommittee of the Northwest Michigan Workforce Development Board. Advance the educational and training goals of the CEAC.
  • Oversee MiCareer Quest, one of the agency's annual, flagship community events. Responsible for ensuring community awareness, volunteer coordination, employer engagement, and local school involvement.
  • Collaborate with regional, state-level, and community partners and agencies to meet program goals and expand services throughout the region.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with stakeholders and champions of youth programming and services.
  • Recognize, develop, and implement initiatives to increase effectiveness of standard programming.

     

*Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities include:  *

  • Master's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership competency, and success in supervising and leading diverse teams.
  • Ability to provide effective, strategic leadership and management.
  • Considerable experience in youth programming, including directly working with youth and young adults.
  • Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability using sound judgment in professional situations.
  • Ability to motivate others and foster a positive, supportive work culture.
  • Experience at engaging diverse stakeholder groups, developing effective partnerships and collaborative relationships. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Knowledge of local labor market and public and private sector employment practices.
  • Willing to travel throughout the agency's 10-county region regularly, as well as intermittent travel outside the region for state level meetings, conventions, and/or trainings.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and insurable to drive agency vehicles.
  • Proficient with Google Suite operations; competent in Microsoft Office and other software

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time salaried position with an annual salary of $64,000.  The employee is entitled to our benefits package that includes: comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance with employer paid premiums; life insurance; disability insurance, employer paid deferred compensation retirement package; paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, and holidays.
