WSP USA Project Estimator in Toronto, Ontario

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Project Control Manager, the bilingual (English/French) Project Estimator will support the Project Manager in Project Estimating.

As a member of the national Energy, Resources, Industrial group, you will be given the opportunity to apply your education and experience to complex projects. What you can expect to do here:

  • You will assess, adjust or create an estimation template.

  • You will create detailed, market-related owner’s cost estimates for assigned projects’ scope changes, work delays, etc.

  • You will review change requests and determine material requirements, processing, and job routing.

  • You will lead coordination meetings with clients or other stakeholders.

  • You will lead client and contractor negotiations to resolve contract changes and claims.

  • You will develop construction cost estimates and prepare an estimate reference as required by the Estimating Lead, in accordance with the program requirements.

  • You will ensure all estimates are accurate and account for all risk factors.

  • You will review quantitative surveys for all types of construction systems and materials.

  • You will seek additional useful estimating data from various sources.

  • You will partake in design and specifications reviews for cost-effectiveness, and suggest appropriate alternatives.

  • You will mentor, train and support less experienced estimators.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • +15 years of relevant experience in Project Estimating.

  • Ability to communicate in English, both written and verbal (professional level required).

  • Ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.

  • Previous relevant experience in the mine engineering industry is considered an asset.

  • Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change.

  • Ability to multitask, work on several projects or tasks at once, manage time, organize, and set priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, as the role requires continuous interaction with team members.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including report writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Outlook; highly advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills are a must.

  • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge/Experience of ACCE (formally known as K-Base) and/or InEight Estimate (formally known as HardDollars).
