Job Overview:

The Amazon Vessel Support Team (VST) Operations Engineer produces safe, high quality and efficient project engineering deliverables for all Amazon pipelay and subsea construction tenders and projects. The Operations engineer shall be intimately familiar with the Amazon vessel capabilities and operating procedures and develop execution plans, schedules and cost estimates accordingly. Lessons Learned from previous execution shall be consistently reviewed and incorporated into future works to drive continuous improvement. The Operations engineer shall manage assigned Project Engineers for relevant work packages as assigned by the Amazon VST Marine Operations Manager

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Operations Engineers report to VST Operations Manager

  • Coordinate and prepare method statements, procedures, mobilization plans, installation schedules, and budget/cost build-up with the support of Offshore Vessel Management Team (VMT), VST Engineering team, PPG Coordinator, & SCM lead

  • Develop storyboards, rigging drawings, installation aides, lift plans with the support of CSE and Drafting resources

  • Develop and maintain Amazon-specific Bill of Materials (BOM)

  • Interface with internal and external interfaces as per interface matrix to ensure that vessel execution plan aligns project or tender overall execution plan

  • Interface with global functions to ensure alignment between project and function requirements

  • Development of logistics plan for vessel execution strategy

  • Ensures correct and quality delivery to project every time, all the time

  • Review of project/tender specifications and clarification/qualifications

  • Operations Engineers collect operational lessons learned from Offshore Vessel Management and Project Engineers

  • Operations Engineers prepare and present project lessons learned to VST and Project Teams

  • Uses lessons learned process to drive improved interfaces and business cases for improved process, equipment or vessel modification justification

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • BSc Engineering Degree (mechanical, naval or generalist)

  • Marine Operations SURF (3 yrs min)

  • Offshore Experience (1-2 yrs, onboard deep water assets, rigid pipelay preferred)

  • Overall Subsea Industry Experience (3-5 yrs min)

  • Knowledgeable of rigid pipeline products and technology

  • Knowledgeable of pipelay and subsea construction methodology

  • Knowledgeable of industry standards and codes

  • Experience with managing and leading a scope or package preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Projects)

  • Proficient in AutoCAD (Navisworks, Inventor, Solidworks preferred)

  • Organizational skills

  • Efficient communicator

  • Experience in working in Multi-Discipline Teams
