Professional Rank and Salary: MP-5, $75,000 - $90,000

Location: Syracuse

Description of Duties:

The Business Office at The State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in Syracuse, NY, invites applications for a Budget Analyst. This position will work closely with the CFO and plays a key role in the administration of the campus budget and financial plan. This includes preparation, monitoring, review, and communications with campus budget managers as well as senior leadership.

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

  • Budget preparation for all campus funding to include core operations, IFR, and SUTRA for allocation request to system administration.

  • Developing and distributing budget reports to be used as tools for budget managers within their respective units and applying standards of measurement.

  • Working with enrollment management to assist in forecasting revenue associated with the campus established enrollment targets associated with multi-year budget requests.

  • Using enrollment management targets to analyze course fee and broad-based fee revenue and related expenditures to ensure compliance with approved use.

  • Assist CFO with cost accounting related to campus offered programs.

  • Responsible for communicating and making changes to transactional items and any associated journal entries required to have reconciled general accounts associated with budgeted allocations.

  • Prepare budget and fiscal statistical data as required or requested by budget managers or executive staff.

  • Design and implement operating strategies.

  • Plans and procedures to assure smooth functioning within SUNY ESF's Business Office and integration of the campus budget within unit.

  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration from an accredited institution.

  • 3-5 year of experience in a financial role

  • Managerial and Project Management Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally

  • High level of attention to detail, organization, project management skills, and possess analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business, accounting or another related field

  • SUNY or NYS Finance Experience in the areas of Accounting, Budgeting, Procurement and/or Student Financial Services

  • Experience with Banner and Argos

    Additional Information:
