Senior Product Design Manager- Clipchamp

Clipchamp is the go-to video platform with one simple mission: to empower anyone to tell stories worth sharing. Since 2016 we’ve attracted over 50 million registered users globally and counting, and that’s only the beginning. We've now joined Microsoft's Office Product Group (OPG)

Building and maintaining strong connections across location and time is critical in the world we live in, and the emotional power of media – video, audio, and photos – makes it perfect for fostering personal connections and sharing information.

Our in-browser platform and native Windows app gives users access to professional video editing tools and features alongside a 1 million asset-strong stock library and hundreds of editable video templates. We're the go-to platform that's built with everyday editors and creators in mind.

About the Team

While Clipchamp is predominantly based in Australia, OPG  is a global team, with offices in multiple countries. Joining Clipchamp means you'll join a team of colleagues who live all around the world. We’re committed to each team member feeling connected, regardless of where they work and live.

About the Role

We’re looking for a curious and empathetic Senior Product Design Manager to lead a team of product designers. As a systems-thinker grounded in empathy, you're driven to shape and deliver world-class experiences that make video creation with Clipchamp delightful and friction-free. This is a hybrid role, best suited to someone who has a desire to contribute to shippable design solutions, while evolving our internal design capability and helping the team push the boundaries of what’s possible with video.

Responsibilities

You'll be:

  • Leading a group of passionate and experienced Product Designers, supporting and growing their capabilities through design critique, mentorship and coaching.

  • Empowering designers to continuously learn and grow their careers – improving their skills as designers, communicators and influencers.

  • Defining problem and opportunity areas, helping the team to focus on solving the right things – from quick wins to bigger, bolder initiatives.

  • Helping to define the standards and refine our design practice, driving consistent and beautiful product experiences for our users by collaborating with engineers, growth marketers and product managers.

  • Leading by example, contributing design solutions and deliverables. Analysing data, conducting user interviews and testing sessions, facilitating workshops, prototyping, quickly iterating on ideas and sharing your designs across all functions with confidence.

  • Contributing to scaling the Product Design team.

  • Improving our culture and ways of working.

  • Championing diversity and inclusion, inspiring and catering to our diverse range of users.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • You have 3+ years of experience leading and managing a team of designers working on complex products or experiences, in large, cross-functional teams.

  • You’re someone that can speak to the design process fluently, having a good grasp of the steps it takes to build great products – from uncovering customer needs and pain points, to executing elegant interfaces. You’ve been there, so you know what it takes to be led by a great leader.

  • You're a great communicator – candid, honest, thoughtful and kind.

  • You’re comfortable helping individuals identify areas for improvement, providing timely guidance and motivating them to reach their goals, giving and receiving feedback, and steering the team towards success.

  • You have strong servant leadership skills and a passion for supporting and developing people.

  • You’re naturally curious, with a strong focus on the why. You have an appetite to learn and evolve in all aspects of design, product, and leadership.

  • You have an experimentation mindset and advocate for lean design processes – you ship to learn, understanding that big things have small beginnings.

  • You have a portfolio that demonstrates high-quality design outcomes, contributing to user experience and business value.

Nice to have:

  • You're comfortable designing and prototyping in Figma (our tool of choice)
