Applied Research Associates, Inc. Autonomous Control Systems Design Engineer in Summit Point, West Virginia
Description
The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a motivated, action-oriented Autonomous Control Systems Design Engineer to support research and development program involving development of autonomous systems to support Department of Defense (DoD) operations. This engineer will be working in a multi-disciplinary team environment responsible for design, fabrication, and testing electromechanical systems. This includes designing components and control circuits, developing software code, prototyping, and testing systems. Experience integrating components onto platforms with small size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements is highly desired.
Work hours are mission dependent. A flexible schedule will be critical to support fast moving tasks and projects.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
2-5 years professional experience with a demonstrated experience in control systems design and implementation.
Must be a US Citizen
Must be willing to travel as required to support field test work
Must be able to work flexible hours and have a flexible schedule
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD government clearance
Desired Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with PCB layout (EAGLE, Altium, SolidWorks PCB).
Experience with power control design, fabrication, integration, and testing.
Experience with communication interfaces, protocols, and architectures.
Experience configuring software in Linux environments.
Knowledge and experience in robotics operating system (ROS) programming
Experience with design and operation autonomous systems.
Knowledge and experience with SolidWorks.
Experience integrating components and systems on platforms with small size, weight, and power (SWaP) requirements.
