Description

The Undergraduate Teacher Education program within the School of Education at St. Bonaventure University invites applications for a lecturer position as an Elementary Education Generalist beginning fall 2024. The School of Education has a long-standing history of providing educators with a strong preparation for the teaching profession through scaffolded clinical experiences, a focus on differentiated instruction, and a firm foundation in social justice and inclusive education.

Examples of Duties

The selected candidate will teach a 4:4 course load in the Childhood Education program. Courses may be associated with clinical supervision of preservice teachers. If appropriate, they may also be eligible to teach in one or more of the following graduate programs in Education: Adolescence Education, Educational Leadership, Inclusive Special Education, or Literacy.

Typical Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Current teacher certification in grades 1-6 and a master’s degree in a related area

  • P-12 teaching experience with diverse learners (i.e., emergent bilingual students, students with disabilities, students from high poverty backgrounds, and/or culturally and linguistically diverse students, etc.) in urban and/or rural environments;

  • Current teacher certification for grades 1-6 is required, certification in additional areas, such as Literacy and/or special education certification strongly encouraged;

  • Knowledge and experience with P-12 school-based teacher education programs;

  • Computer literacy and familiarity with course design and teaching, and knowledgeable of technological trends and best practices in schools;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
