Fedcap Personal Support Professional MVLE in Springfield, Virginia

Position Summary:

In this role, the employee will mentor and assist in, training, monitoring, and supporting Personal Support Professional staff in working with individuals with disabilities. The employee is responsible for enabling the individuals served in attaining and maintaining their maximum functional level while experiencing a meaningful and productive day. The employee will provide the appropriate support tailored to the needs and desires of each individual to enable each to appropriately transition into work or the community.

Essential Job Functions:

· Supervisory Support and Training: Assist Personal Support Professionals (PSP) in providing training, coaching, mentoring, and counseling to individuals with disabilities in the areas of appropriate work attitudes, employability, and work skills specific to individuals’ employment. Teach social and communication skills, use of adaptive equipment, and positive behavioral change in consultation with rehabilitation specialists and others. Provide supervisory support in training, monitoring, supporting, and transporting individuals via company vehicle. Utilize positive behavior management techniques in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia guidelines and MANDT behavior protocol. Ensure that all individuals receive the required training to enable them to meet their maximum potential. Help train newly enrolled individuals by assisting with the transition process. Assist with individuals’ personal needs.

· Reporting & Compliance: Assist with instruction and training of Personal Support Professional positions in completing required reporting documents. Assist in auditing sites for regulatory, procedural, and policy compliance. Familiarize yourself with and exercise the applicable personnel practices and policies of the work site, including OSHA standards and uniforms. Complete all required training to maintain licensing requirements and participate in training to develop professional skills as needed and requested.

· Learning: Researches and develops innovative curriculums, lesson plans, and techniques to engage individuals within a curriculum framework, based on their individualized needs, as well as established curriculums. Develop and teach employment, employment readiness, and group day curriculum, based on the individuals’ goals and outcomes. Provide appropriate training, coaching, and support to individuals regarding appropriate work attitudes, work skills, specific individual service delivery, and other duties as needed to help them perform in their position.

· Case-Management: Attend Person-Centered Plan & Inter-disciplinary Team meetings as needed for assigned caseload. Establish and maintain good communication with parents, guardians, residential counselors, and other professionals regarding the individuals’ overall progress. Coordinate the schedule for individual group training and community access outings.

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in human services, behavior management, psychology, or a related field is preferred. Commensurate experience may be substituted for a degree.

· A minimum of two years working directly with persons with disabilities is preferred. Experience should include training individuals with disabilities and having documentation experience.

· Experience working directly with Medicaid and CARF regulations and working with the ISP process is required.

· In this position the employee will demonstrate the attributes needed to research, develop, implement, and guide general and individualized curriculums for individuals supported.

· Provide superior Strong knowledge of computer software, use of programs such as PowerPoint, and ability to teach virtually.

· A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s license is required. Will be required to drive a company vehicle for group outings.

· May need US Citizenship if working a federal site that is secure.
