This opening will be temp to direct hire for the person with the right skills, qualifications and abilities.

HOURS

  • 2nd Shift, 3 pm – 3 am OR a similar 12 hour shift

  • We offer a 10% shift premium

Scot Forge is 100% employee-owned company that manufactures custom open die and rolled ring forgings for demanding applications all over the world. Scot Forge has locations in Spring Grove, IL, Clinton, WI and Franklin Park, IL.

Essential Functions -

  • Move metal materials around production floor using a sit down forklift.

  • Measure items using a gauges such as micrometer, caliper and tape measure.

  • Review shop order, specifications, and production prints to determine appropriate testing and inspection parameters.

  • Inspection of incoming materials, process and final product inspection, evaluation of product conformance, data review and analysis and NDE inspection reports.

  • Inspection of incoming materials, process and final product inspections, and evaluation of product conformance.

  • Set up, calibrate and operate various non-destructive testing instruments to verify steel integrity.

  • Participate in required equipment training for safe use of Crane, Chain and Rigging, Fork trucks, use of etchants, and the use of special evaluation tools such as the Niton gun and radiation detectors.

  • Prepare print of non-conforming material indicating a description and location of non-conformance.

  • Prepare documentation to be used to submit deviation and non-conformance reports for material out of specification.

  • Prepare any required inspection records/documentation including dimensional reports and customer provided documentation of inspection.

  • Participate in required documented procedure training as required by position and or assignment of supervisor.

  • Inspect and evaluate products on customer premises or at Scot Forge for customers or customer's representatives.

  • Obtain and maintain internal certifications in NDE disciplines - UT. PT and MT.

  • Obtain and maintain internal final inspection, Niton and Brinell certifications.

  • Asks questions if a process is unclear, or there’s safety, or quality concerns.

  • Understand and follow the Scot Forge quality policy.

    Qualifications

    Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • 1 or more years of forklift experience

  • Quality Control, Quality Assurance experience

  • Micrometer, caliper and gauge experience

    Preferred:

  • Micrometer, caliper, tape measure and gauge experience

  • Manufacturing or Production experience

  • Metal fabrication experience

  • QC or QA experience

  • Experience reading blue prints

  • Experience using overhead crane

  • 1 -3 years applied training in NDE

  • Ultrasound, magnetic particle or liquid penetrant testing experience

  • Associated Degree (AAS or equivalent) – Preferred

  • Certifications ASNT ACCP (UT, PT, MT level 2); ASQ CQI or CQT

  • High level QA or QC reporting experience
