The Role

The Marine Superintendent role provides technical support to the Carnival UK Fleet in critical areas such as Life Saving Appliances (LSA), safety systems, hull & structures, and marine equipment. Responsibilities include deck department maintenance, focusing on structural integrity, coatings, platforms, doors, and open decks, as well as specialized LSA maintenance covering davits and boats.

Collaborating with the asset management strategy team, the Marine Superintendent will ensure operational risks are identified and managed effectively, while maintaining optimal equipment and vessel availability, also overseeing the planning, execution, and management of technical projects, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.

Regular travel/ship visits are to be expected in this role.

Responsibilities include:

• Responsible for the material state of ships equipment and systems in the area of specialisation (or project responsibility). Assets including but not limited to: LSA, structural maintenance, fixed and portable fire protections systems, paint coatings, lifting equipment, tanks, gangways, window washing systems, pontoons / tender platforms, shell doors, ships side glass, fire screen doors, watertight doors, mooring equipment and open decks

• To act as the technical expert for LSA, Marine equipment and hull coatings in support of the ship management team. The individual will represent CUK at the relevant Corporate Working Groups

• Responsible for management of operational risk of LSA & Marine equipment, ensuring risks are identified, managed to a tolerable level with appropriate mitigations identified and planned

• Work with ships staff, suppliers and the Ship Managers to identify and mitigate associated obsolescence risks; devising plans to replace affected equipment to ensure risk remains understood and tolerable

Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK07 and is offered on a full time, permanent basis, with hybrid working in our Southampton office, a minimum of 3 days per week.

About You

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

• Degree or equivalent in a suitable Technical or Maritime discipline, Naval Architecture preferred

• In depth knowledge of SOLAS, Class Rules & applicable Statutory Legislation

• Knowledge of ship repair & steelwork and experience in management and operation of a wide and diverse range of marine maintenance aspect

• Excellent communication, prioritisation and organisational skills

Previous experience of working within the cruise industry would be preferred.
