ICON Clinical Research Procurement Manager in Sofia, Bulgaria

Position Overview:

This is an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced procurement professional to join our expanding procurement team, based in Dublin. Reporting to a Senior Director of Procurement, you will work with an established team of procurement professionals and in close collaboration with key stakeholders across the global organisation. The role will be responsible for the end-to-end management and oversight of global, industry leading IT & Telecoms suppliers with an annual spend in excess of $150million.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Supplier / category management:

  • Manage and negotiate strategic global and local supplier contracts, ensuring adherence to ICON policies and procedures.

  • Leverage sustainable, long term commercial advantages for ICON including but not exclusive to cost savings.

  • Full end-to-end management of the procurement process, including but not limited to, supplier onboarding, relationship management, contract, and purchase order execution, in accordance with ICON policies and procedures.

  • Identify, develop, and deploy best practice vendor management, category management and procurement practices which enhance procurement performance, and safeguard the requirements of internal stakeholders.

  • Benchmark best practices and industry trends.

  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure a high a quality service to ICON and compliance with all ICON processes and policies.

  • Sourcing / RFP

  • Lead on strategic sourcing projects, supporting the end-to-end process from RFI/RFP to contract execution including evaluating commercial proposals, assessing, and identifying all risk factors, assessing long-term viability and sustainability of services, presenting recommendations to stakeholders.

  • Internal stakeholder relationship management:

  • Build strong collaborative relationships with internal teams and stakeholders e.g. Finance, IT, Telecoms, becoming a trusted business partner.

  • Promote a customer focused approach and stakeholder partnership though collaboration and effective communication.

  • Be a positive ambassador for the procurement department across the organisation.

To be successful in the role, you will ideally have:

  • A proven track record of autonomously and effectively working in a fast-paced global procurement team with an extensive knowledge of procurement best practice.

  • Excellent negotiation, contract management and supplier relationship management skills – ideally within global IT software and Telecoms categories. Experience of leading complex vendor negotiations and delivering complex multi-million-dollar global service contracts is highly desired.

  • Exceptional communication skills in order to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders, suppliers and supporting functions at all levels.

  • An ability to create and implement strategies that drive efficiencies and cost savings and an aptitude for being able to recognise and consider emerging opportunities and risks.

  • Excellent analytical skills and competency in interpreting, negotiating, and executing legal contracts.

  • Leadership/line management experience is preferred.

  • An adaptable and open-minded attitude, embracing change as an opportunity for growth.
