JOB SUMMARY The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care in a variety of settings based on education, knowledge, skill set, and competency. The Registered Nurse communicates with physicians/Managers/co-workers, as appropriate about changes in patient’s clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in the departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides procedural patient care to adult through geriatric patient populations.

  • Addresses the psychological, physical and general aspects of care related to the patient in the Radiology environment.

  • Ensuring proper environmental conditions are met for surgical/radiological equipment and supplies safety (humidity, temperature).

  • Monitors, positions and assesses patient during procedure.

  • Communicates with the Radiologist/Surgeon continuously on patient condition.

  • Assists with the maintenance of equipment, supplies and inventory.

  • Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning, safety and readiness.

  • Obtains supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Radiology team are met.

  • Supports and maintains a culture of people, safety, service excellence and quality, fiscal responsibility.

  • Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

  • Demonstrates the ability to handle emergency situations during low-, moderate- and high-risk procedures.

  • Ensuring that patient has understanding pre-, intra- and post-operative processes, and education performed pre-operatively for recovery.

  • Assist other ancillary departments with patient care in regard to procedure, moderate sedation, monitoring and IVs starts.

  • Assist other ancillary departments with procedural processes requiring subject-matter expert care.

  • Responsible in maintaining records and handling of special equipment, monitors and instruments, and notifies manager if preventative maintenance is needed to preserve equipment function.

  • On-Call duties 10-20 days, average.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure.

  • BLS certification, required.

  • BSN, preferred.

  • Minimum of one year of acute care experience, preferred.

Department Specific Education / Experience / License and Certifications

  • Minimum of 1 year acute care experience, preferable in: Cath/IR Lab/EP Lab, Interventional Radiology/Special Procedures, Radiology, surgical, intensive care, emergency care, or endoscopy.

  • ACLS certification, required.

  • RCIS, TNCC or CCRN (preferred).

Requirements for Rad RN

  • CRN certification (Certified Radiology Nurse), preferred.

Additional Skills

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

  • Organizational skills.

  • Participates in continuing education activities within the department and organization.

  • Attends and actively participates in departmental staff meetings.

  • Keeps up to date with clinical practice and evidence-based practice guidelines.

  • Stays abreast of organizational policies and procedures.
