Sheridan Memorial Hospital Occupational Therapy Assistant - Certified in Sheridan, Wyoming

Summary Provides occupational therapy services as determined necessary by the client’s treatment team. The incumbent will participate as a member of the treatment team to assist in patient care as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Occupational Therapist Assistant will keep accurate and timely records and documentation regarding the Occupational Therapy process. Incumbent may provide the program with additional services based on years of experience, education or specialized training in accordance with the Occupational Therapy practice act standards and rules. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of the client’s treatment team when indicated and will work with patients in achieving their therapeutic intervention goals that are relevant to the client achieving as much independence as possible.

  • Performs direct services in administering therapy and exercise programs as directed by the Occupational Therapist.

  • Follows the documentation policy as established by Wyoming Rehabilitation Foundation

  • Communicates results regarding progress of ongoing therapy at least every thirty days to the treatment team, the client and when appropriate other professionals or agencies involved with the client

  • Provides education and training to the client, family and employer (when applicable) regarding Occupational Therapy Services.

  • Associate’s Degree - Occupational Therapy Assistant

  • Wyoming Occupational Therapist Assist license, required.

  • Knowledge of general health care issues, disease and medical rehabilitation issues.

  • Knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, statutes, policies and procedures, and ability to determine appropriateness of compliance in situations.

  • Ability to grasp new concepts, learn quickly, and adapt to changes quickly.

  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with a wide variety of individuals and agencies.

  • Ability to establish priorities and problem-solve alone and with others.

  • Knowledge of up-to-date approaches and techniques.

Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
