JOB SUMMARY Under the direct supervision of the Nutritional Services Manager, the Nutritional Services Aide 2 performs a variety of patient food service and dish duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSILITIES

  • Assembles food trays for Room Service patients appropriate for general and therapeutic diets.

  • Prepares and delivers items as requested by nursing staff or patients.

  • Maintains Room Service tray line in a clean, neat and organized manner.

  • Prepares special diet foods as necessary.

  • Delivers food in carts to rooms and places appropriate trays at patient bedside while checking 2 patient identifiers.

  • Loads and oversees dishwashers.

  • Washes specified items by hand, i.e., pots, pans, knives.

  • Disposes of trash and garbage in appropriate manner and as needed.

  • Puts clean dishes and utensils away.

  • Mops floors as scheduled and as necessary.

  • Cleans walk-in refrigerators and storage areas.

  • Assists in preparing pudding & jello and nourishments.

  • Performs special cleaning duties as assigned by the Nutritional Services Manager.

  • Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.

  • Treats patients and families with respect and dignity.

  • Observes infection control & Food Safety practices at all times.

  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.

  • Via Telephone, take and respond to patient requests and orders for room service trays, knowledge of Room Service Computer Program.

  • Prepare and deliver p.m. nourishments to appropriate nurse stations.

  • Cleans soiled dishes, trays and loads dish racks and runs through dish machine.

  • Loads prewashed pots and pans into dish racks, runs through dish machine, unracks them to a sanitized area, put them away after air drying.

  • Minimum age 16, High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous experience in hospital food preparation, preferred.

  • Successful completion of ServSafe exam, preferred.

    Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
