This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. Performs welding processes on aluminum, steel, and alloy parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys and precision blending using hand tools to prepare metallic surfaces for welding and non-destructive evaluation. Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. Monitors and verifies quality per statistical processes or other control procedures. Joins metal parts to form a permanent bond. Welds metal components and parts using standard specialized equipment such as gas welders and gas torches and may also utilize friction stir welding (FSW) methods using solid-state joining. Uses electrical currents or friction to create heat and bond metals. Observe tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. Set up and operate large, motion-controlled machines to create friction stir welds on launch vehicles. Perform periodic maintenance on machines with complex pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Accurately use precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches. Multiple positions available Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Handle preparations for parts requiring non-contact inspection scanning methods Inspection Software Quality Assurance Program, set and operate portable CMM inspection system Perform Manual Layout on granite table of complex hardware Using design data to inspect large assemblies, sub-assemblies, additively manufactured, machined, and received components Provide feedback to engineers with dimensional data Document, track, and complete non-conformance reports Provide inspection time estimates Maintain and supervise inspection equipment calibrations Process improvement Maintain configuration control on files and job records Safely work within an industrial environment Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience in dimensionalinspection Experience in CMM, Romer Arm, Laser Tracker, Keyence or similar Outstanding blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 or 2009 or 2018 standard. Experience with Spatial Analyzer Inspect software Experience inspecting tight tolerance, high-value components. Strong computer software skills Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Suite Programs Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize projects to meet completion dates. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
