Amazon Machine Learning Software Development Manager, Personalization and Content Recommendation, Amazon in Seattle, Washington

Description

Are you passionate about machine learning? Do you want to drive the innovation behind real-world recommendation systems? Do you want to impact what is shown to Amazon customers across the website by innovating with Amazon scale data? We are looking for a passionate person who can build a team and drive an innovation roadmap as part of Amazon’s centralized content recommendation and personalization service. The person will have high exposure within Amazon and their work will impact all Amazon customers. They will need to negotiate effectively and have good written and oral communication skills.

When leading this team, you will be required to :

  • drive roadmap and determine which areas of invest to improve which content we show to customers

  • hire and develop the best

  • effectively communicate complicated machine learnings concepts to multiple partners to help them improve their content

  • drive big picture innovations with clear roadmaps for intermediate delivery

  • identify when to leverage existing technology versus innovate a new technology

  • work closely with partners to identify problems from the customer's perspective

  • incorporate subject matter expertise from across the company into our machine learning systems

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • 3+ years working with production machine learning services

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
