The Webpass Field Technician team is a field operations team focused on the installation process and construction efforts for the Webpass network. Job responsibilities include installing and testing fiber optic cables, installing radio mounts, pointing microwave point-to-point radios and performing installation/construction duties, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Role Description

As a GFiber Webpass Construction Technician, you will build, troubleshoot, upgrade, and maintain our network. You will work on a variety of different types of building, each presenting their own challenges, whether that is installing and testing copper/fiber cabling and their peripherals or troubleshooting after hours emergency responses to outages. By using your wide-ranging skills and the highly supportive team, you’ll find the best solutions to complete the job.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Support GFiber Webpass network construction efforts building and maintaining our network.

  • Leverage foundational knowledge and core abilities necessary to complete network construction tasks.

  • Conduct site surveys, design cable pathways in large residential properties and small businesses, and complete all the construction tasks required to bring a building onto our network. Install, terminate, test and label cabling, mount networking equipment, point microwave radios. Ensure equipment is sufficiently grounded, some light conduit work.

  • Take ownership of network reliability, working with the team to maintain exceptional network uptime and reliability for our customers.

  • Provide after hours emergency network troubleshooting and repair response.

At a minimum we’d like you to have:

  • 1 year of experience with CAT5/CAT6 cable, structured cabling, RJ 45 connector terminations, and installing ethernet switches.

  • Experience with the physical layer, 66 blocks, 110 blocks, patch panels and troubleshooting Ethernet network issues.

  • Ability to work in tight telecommunications closets and lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record that meets company standards.

It’s preferred if you have:

  • Technical school or technical training like BICSI.

  • Fiber OSP installation experience.

  • Knowledge of fiber optic cabling, fusion splicing, and similar.

  • Understanding of mmWave radio installation and maintenance.

  • Advanced troubleshooting skills related to routers, switches and hubs, and streaming devices.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $57,000 - $62,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
