Systems Engineer

HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects.
Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology, always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes
Performs complex systems development and design work that may include logic design, I/O design, firmware development, model formulation, manufacturing and development cost projections, computer architecture analysis and design, and analog or digital systems engineering. Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency
Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of systems enhancements.
Provides input for documentation on new or existing systems
Develops and conducts tests to ensure systems meet documented user requirements.
Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems
Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals
Provides system/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced systems engineers
Participates in special projects as required
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: BS/BA in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience of 6+ years.
Required Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience
Required Technical Skills:
Advanced understanding of DISA guidance; Extensive practical experience with implementing STIG compliance checklists; Building and maintaining server stacks and associated server and client and operating systems; Experience with applications on Battle Command Common Services server stacks; Comprehensive understanding of the Risk Management Framework
Technical expert in SQL; SolarWinds; HBSS; RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL); Professional Certification in one or more specific technologies may be required to meet DoD Approved RMF Baseline Certifications
Security Clearance Level: SECRET clearance is required with ability to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
Required Skills and Abilities: Superb communication skills; strong ability to advise and educate a technical team to complete the mission; Strong organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines to remain compliant
