New England Cancer Specialists Medical Assistant Float-Scarborough in Scarborough, Maine
New England Cancer Specialists is seeking an experienced and flexible Medical Assistant Float to become a member of our dedicated oncology medical professional team in Scarborough, ME. New England Cancer Specialists is a privately owned, fast paced medical oncology practice with locations in Kennebunk, Topsham, and two locations in Scarborough.
The Medical Assistant will work in both our 100 Campus Drive, Scarborough location as well as our brand-new Palliative Care facility located just down the road at 51 US Rt. One Nonesuch Plaza. They will provide excellent care to wide variety of patients dealing with cancer and blood disorders. The position will also have general clerical duties to assist in day to day operations of the offices.
Facilitate office visits by greeting and rooming patients and preparing for the physician/APP visit- i.e. ht, we, vital signs, review of symptoms, review of medication lists, histories.
Draw blood/phlebotomy as needed
Assist physicians with procedures as needed
Enter orders into the EMR and related systems for medication, laboratory and radiology services
Schedule procedures, and appointments
Gather insurance information
Monday-Friday work week, no nights.
Weekends: Periodic, this position participates with other medical assistants in the weekend urgent care coverage.
Travel: This position will split time between our 100 Campus Dr. Scarborough location and our 51 US Rt. One Nonsuch Plaza Palliative Care location. The Palliative Care facility is located .5 miles away from our 100 Campus location.

High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent
Certificate of completion from an accredited school of medical assisting program.
Certified Medical Assistant desired
Prior experience as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant in a hospital or outpatient clinic preferred.
Previous experience with insurance prior-authorization, medication refills, and preparing charts preferred.
Experience with and ability to understand patient medical records, physician's orders and medical orders.
Understand an conduct yourself in accordance with accepted clinical standards and the ability to maintain strict HIPPA compliance.
High level of computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR's) is required
Ability to communicate with patients, family members, co-workers and providers in an effective and compassionate way.
Must have high level oral and written communication skills, typing skills are required.
