Redwood Credit Union, as part of its relationship with CUSO Financial Services, LP (CFS) is seeking a Financial Advisor to provide investment services to its members in the San Rafael, CA area.

Look no further: Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Financial Advisor who wants something more!

As a Financial Advisor at RCU you will proactively pursue adding new targeted partners and new business opportunities for Wealth Management in the geographic areas, or markets designated by the VP, the SVP and/or the organization. The position will develop and deliver for approval a comprehensive strategic plan for business development, Membership growth and increased Member product penetration. Further, they will provide investment, retirement, annuity, advisory, and educational investment planning, and advice, as licensed, to Members in the assigned region and execute transactions for investment products that match Members’ needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to all Member-Clients.

  • Call Members referred to the Wealth Management Department by branch, Member Service Center to set an appointment for a meeting.

  • Make and receive calls from clients assisting them with their questions and resolving problems as appropriate.

  • Ensure maximum flexibility to relieve and/or assist in a variety of functions as needed.

  • Will travel to Corporate Offices and other branch locations as assigned.

  • Business Development / Client-Services Management:

  • Be the primary architect and contributor to the creation and execution of the Business Development Plan in partnership with the VP/Wealth Management.

  • Leads all aspects of the sales process, while calling upon other company sales resources to assist in solution development, proposal delivery, and implementation, as needed or as directed by management.

  • Improve the market position of the organization and help it in every way to attain the desired financial products and services growth.

  • Identify and attend sales and sales-like activities and events that will drive desired business.

  • Research relationships that should be developed and manage effective partnerships with both existing and new partners.

  • Maintain extensive knowledge of current developments in the business market to assess the position of the company and determine how to improve it.

  • Report results as related to business development activities to management.

  • Volunteer time in the community as strategically assigned or determined.

  • Participate in community events, community volunteer boards & associations as strategically assigned or determined.

  • Refers opportunities for growth in products and services to other credit union resources and departments as appropriate, including cross-selling RCU and RCUSG products and services.

  • Be actively involved in Chambers of Commerce, business groups, and committees that are appropriate and relevant to the goals and initiative of the organization and will drive desired business to The Redwood Group.

  • Organize community seminars on investing, retirement planning, insurance needs and other financial products offered as determined.

  • Execute events and presentations at Select Employer Group (SEG) locations and business/community events.

    Investment Product Sales/Advice:

  • Executes trades for mutual funds, stocks, bonds, etc. as directed by client and/or CUSO Financial Services Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction (OSJ).

  • Research and provide literature on requested investment products including stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

  • Research and provide literature and information to clients regarding insurance products such as annuities.

  • Establish and maintain interactive and open communication with CUSO Financial Services and product companies.

  • Provide branch and Member Service Center staff with pertinent referral and product training.

  • Attend regular product and sales training meetings.

  • Research and solve member problems and complaints in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Prepare regular client mailings/calls for birthdays, holidays and other events as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Knowledge of financial products and services.

  • Knowledge of business or economics.

  • Working and current knowledge of investment and insurance products.

  • Working knowledge of the financial services industry.

  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.

    Excellent services skills.

  • Skill in the operation of personal computers, investment related software and printers.

  • Skill in the operation of modern office equipment.

  • Ability to be self-motivated and directed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to effectively work on the telephone to obtain investment information.

  • Ability to coordinate a variety of activities simultaneously and prioritize work.

  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to effectively promote and sell credit union products and services.

  • Ability to work weekends and travel to one mandatory conference.

  • Ability to analyze situations and recommend workable solutions for Members.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.

  • Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License

  • Must maintain Securities Series 7, 63, 65 and/or 66 and California Life/Health Insurance License.

    Education/Experience:

    A combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate's degree and four (4) years progressively responsible investment sales experience with a credit union, bank, or investment company.

    Compensation: Base salary of $64,480 plus commission structure.
