  • Current Active TCOLE Peace Officer License OR out of state equivalent (must obtain TCOLE license within 3 months of hire date)

  • Must possess a high school diploma / GED .

Preferred Qualifications

  • 60 College Credit Hours / Associates Degree.

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Previous work experience in university policing.

  • TCOLE Proficiency Certificate above Basic Peace Officer.

  • Current Full Time Working Peace Officer.

Key police officer responsibilities include patrolling the campus to deter and detect criminal activity, responding promptly to calls for service, conducting initial criminal investigations, and accurately completing reports. Officers are also responsible for effectively identifying and apprehending individuals engaging in criminal behavior. The role extends beyond addressing criminal incidents, as officers are expected to respond to non-criminal events on campus to provide necessary assistance and collaborate with surrounding law enforcement agencies as needed.

Job Duties

  • Provide proactive patrols of university owned, leased or operated property by foot, bike and vehicle to provide a visible deterrence to crime.

  • Respond to police calls for service utilizing safe operation of a police vehicle.

  • Complete and submit accurate police reports in a timely manner.

  • Enforce State Laws, Local Ordinances, and all University Rules as appropriate.

  • Proper use of communication and recording equipment.
