Hatch is seeking an Expeditor in Salt Lake City, UT. The primary function and responsibility in the expediting discipline is proactive problem solving as well as the coordination and communication with vendors, Hatch and project disciplines to maintain schedules (internal engineering, vendor's equipment and information deliveries), and prevention of delays that could lead to increased project costs. The Expediting Lead supervises expediting personnel and activities on a project to ensure timely delivery of supplier deliverables to meet contractual and project schedule requirements, and participates in problem solving activities when necessary to resolve delays of deliverables that may jeopardize major project milestones. The Expediting Lead takes an active role in the planning, staffing, training and development activities of personnel and develops and monitors budgeting of expediting operations and distributes workload to assigned expeditors.

This position report to the USA Regional Manager, Procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises and co-ordinates the expediting function on a project under the direction of the project Procurement Manager and Materials Manager

  • Assists in the preparation of bidders lists for critical packages with respect to historic vendor performance

  • Prepares an Expediting Execution Plan and establishes levels of expediting

  • Assigns the Expeditors and office Documentation Expeditors to tasks

  • Maintains interface on purchase order administration activities with all disciplines

  • Reports current status through the Hatch core system and issues weekly status reports to the project functions

  • Maintains a proactive approach to anticipate potential problems and takes appropriate action when necessary before delays occur

  • Requests corrective actions and follow-up on application

  • Ensures close coordination with all other project functions

  • Assists in the preparation of supplier performance evaluations and close out activities

    Qualifications and Experience

  • High degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items

  • Ability to confirm that delivery dates of materials and supply items comply with all requirements

  • Prior knowledge of preservation and packaging procedures to ensure that transported materials or items are free from damage and to ensure that materials or items to be shipped are marked, packaged and preserved in accordance with all requirements

  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 19011

  • Multi-discipline knowledge/awareness

  • Know and comply with all regulations and legislative requirements

  • Proven track record in a similar position

  • Excellent understanding of project execution, especially materials management and scheduling.

  • Relevant technical qualification or trade qualification
