Fairview Health Services Supervisor EMS Education in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Here at M Health Fairview, we're seeking an EMS Education Supervisor to join our team! Are you called to support your community? The Education Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of leading and evolving the EMS Education team. Will research EMS education and training best practices with focus on MHF EMS clinical excellence. Will evaluate the performance of and deliver education to M Health Fairview EMS personnel, and other healthcare/public safety students. Assists with the development and implementation of course curriculum based on state and national standards, as well as customer needs. Provides mentorship and supports the system mission, vision and code of conduct.

Responsibilities Job Description

  • Maintains knowledge of and complies with all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of the education staff. Provides fiscal management and leadership to EMS education team.

  • Coordinates with EMS educators and Scheduling Specialist to develop and schedule education sessions that will meet or exceed expectations of recertification requirements, EMT/Paramedic refresher, skills verification, collective bargaining agreements.

  • Actively participates in creating and implementing educational sessions with focus on improved clinical outcomes, strengthening clinical skills, professional confidence, and provider safety.

  • Regularly coordinate with QIQA Specialist to review, measure and analyze clinical data. Will actively participate in clinical document and case review. Will develop data into improved clinical outcomes via education content development. Will report activity and outcomes to EMS Leadership on a scheduled basis.

  • Takes an active role in education session presentations.

  • Manages training equipment and supply inventory.

  • Coordinates with Operations Leadership and Onboarding Specialist in the New Employee Orientation process.

  • Assists Operations Leadership with supporting and developing Field Training Officers.

  • Maintains educational records and rosters for MHF EMS staff. Assures accurate record keeping in state and National Registry databases.

  • Coordinates with EMS Medical Director to assure clinical providers meet and/or exceed state and National recertification standards.

  • Coordinates with MHF EMS education partners including, but not limited to Inver Hills College, Century College, Allied Medical Training, CVTC and MHF EMS for the scheduling of EMT, Paramedic, and First Responder clinical precepting schedules.

  • Assures appropriate staffing levels for planned education sessions.

  • Ensures that education team timecards in scheduling system and payroll system match and are accurate.

  • Develops, monitors and reports on team Key Performance Indicators. Forecasts expectations and reports actuals.

  • Assists Operations division administrative duties.

  • Attends operations meetings as appropriate and necessary.

  • Contributes to annual budget planning including but not limited to anticipated educator hours, training supplies, durable training aids.

  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.

Qualifications

Required

Education

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field or minimum of 2 years of documented EMS specific education experience

Experience

  • 2 years pre-hospital care experience

License/Certification/Registration

  • Nationally Registered (NREMT) EMT or Paramedic

  • Qualification Source: National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians

  • Be able to obtain MN State Certification EMT or Paramedic within 90 days.

  • Qualification Source: MN Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board

  • Must meet system driver insurability standards.

  • American Heart Association CPR/BLS

  • Be able to obtain MN State DOT Primary EMS instructor within 180 days.

  • Qualification Source: MN Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board

Preferred

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field.

Experience

  • 4 years of EMS specific education experience

  • 4 years of prehospital care experience

  • 2 years of adult education/teaching experience

  • Patient simulation experience

  • Certified Instructor: ACLS, BLS, NRP and/or PALS
