Burlington Senior Manager of Field Investigations in Sacramento, California

The Senior Manager of Investigations supports the shortage objectives of the company by leading Asset Protection investigations in an assigned group of identified geographic areas. The role collaborates closely with store and field asset protection teams and operational business partners to identify, analyze, and mitigate shortage risk through investigations, as well as proactive measures to minimize opportunity for dishonest behaviors. The Sr. Manager of Investigations supervises 6-8 Field Investigators and will lead an intelligence led and thorough response to theft trends and incidents in an effective and safe manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all Asset Protection investigative processes in assigned area. Ensure that investigations are consistent with company core values and of the highest legal and ethical standards

  • Develop partnerships with Regional and District Asset Protection and Operational partners to educate and support a comprehensive investigations strategy

  • Work closely with Burlington Investigations Center leadership to optimize processes in information sharing and investigative acumen. Status with leadership to inform on the process and demonstrate expected response

  • Develop Field Investigators to drive consistent execution to address organized retail crime, supply chain, and internal issues in high-risk markets

  • Work cross-functionally with Asset Protection, Shortage Control, Safety, Store Operations, HR, Legal, and the Training and Development team in coordinating investigations, training efforts, and shortage and safety program compliance

  • Lead and Execute team based, investigative deep dive methodology to address theft trends at the local store and market level

  • Work closely with company supply chain and third-party providers to identify and resolve theft and shortage issues

  • Cultivate productive partnerships and lines of communication with relevant law enforcement and peer retail investigations partners. Identify opportunities to partner to mitigate theft and fraud

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, practices, and technology and recommend enhancements to the Director of Investigations

  • Conduct trend analysis of inventory shortage, internal and external theft, and other shortage and safety indicators and craft/communicate investigative findings to key stakeholders

  • Reduce civil exposure by partnering with field teams to identify and correct behaviors that are outside of policy or company core values. Adjust training methods and communication when warranted

  • Conduct training seminars with Asset Protection field leadership, Asset Protection Investigators, and Asset Protection Supervisors through various mediums (in store, via WebEx, etc.)

Candidates must have strategic understanding of the retail loss prevention and security environment with a proven record of influencing change preferred. Relevant experience in successful partnership development, program implementation and ongoing review to ensure achievement of company asset protection and safety objectives. Bachelors Degree preferred, Wicklander-Zulawski Interviewing Certificate , and CFI (Certified Forensic Interviewer) a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication required.

  • Strong functional knowledge of business tools such as Excel, Power Point, Word required.

  • Knowledge of security processes, systems, equipment, reporting tools, required.
