Position Overview:

Sutter Center for Psychiatry is a 73-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital with extensive outpatient service offerings. Sutter Center for Psychiatry places the patient first and always. We provide compassionate care, showing dignity and respect to the individual while focusing on safety and involvement of the individual and their family. Our recovery model is a program that empowers and encourages the patient and family to be active participants in treatment decisions and development of skills and tools to support them in their daily life. We provide services to children from age 5 to elderly patients through a spectrum of care that allows each person to find the level of care needed to return to an active, healthy life. We encourage family members and significant others to participate in each patient's care by taking part in education services, therapy and support groups.

SCP is the only not-for-profit psychiatric hospital in the Sacramento region, and teams there offer a comprehensive approach to care that considers individual patient needs and circumstances while focusing on rapid stabilization and efficient treatment. SCP is also the only location in Northern California, outside of San Francisco, to offer a full-service interventional psychiatry program (including electroconvulsive therapy with IV ketamine infusion, standard electroconvulsive therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation) and child psychiatry. Manages and supervises the Psychiatric Response Team ensuing quality services ensuring quality services are provided to patients through creation and implementation of effective policies and procedures for the triage, assessment, treatment and disposition of psychiatric patients. Is responsible for the development and management of budgets related to the described functions. Further he/she is responsible for the hiring and supervision of all staff in the delineated departments. Manages responsibility for call management, patient triage and assessments, continuous process improvement that ensures an efficient throughput process for patients refer by emergency departments and other mental healthcare providers.

Job Description :

EDUCATION:

  • Master's : social work, counseling, or related field.

  • OR Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. ​

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 12 years recent relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with patients with moderate to severe psychiatric disturbance, preferable in a hospital-based setting.

  • Experience in a progressive management role in providing administrative and clinical direction for all behavioral services in a system delivering a full continuum of psychiatric and substance abuse modalities.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensures effective integration and coordination of Service Line operations and Department operations.

  • Develops and implements systems to support the development and implementation of best practices in an acute care setting including the emergency department.

  • Provide leaderships and strategic direction to either any freestanding psychiatric hospital or psychiatric units in an acute care affiliate, as well as any associated outpatient programs to achieve expected levels of results.

  • Provide leadership and support to budget development, implementation and monitoring while achieving financial targets.

  • Ensures that active performance improvement and affiliate-based quality initiatives are supported and integrated with System Mental Health quality initiatives. Analyzes and reports performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Effectively communicates with key stakeholders across the organization and keeps both System Mental Health and affiliate senior management informed of business results as well as significant changes.

  • Participates in professional, industry and community affairs to foster positive community relations, ensure access to key community leaders, advance the image of Sutter and enhances the incumbent’s knowledge base.

  • Identifies new opportunity for coordinating, integrating, and developing new programs both independently and in collaboration with others.

COMPLIANCE:

  • Maintains strictest confidence of all patients protected health information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental, intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.

  • Performs care in compliance with department standards, policies, and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory agencies to deliver the highest level of patient privacy and care.

  • Retains certification and completes mandated continuing education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies accreditation and licensure requirements.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of administrative and clinical areas with special emphasis on hospital and/or other healthcare settings and standards of patient care.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, along with comprehensive knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission (TJC), California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Title 22 specifications.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology to include diagnostic and operative procedures.

  • Knowledge of State, Federal, and Profession Industry Standards pertaining to healthcare practice.

  • Conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a complex environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, presentation, and collaboration skills.

  • Analytical and financial management skills with the proven ability to achieve sustainable and significant cost efficiencies on an organization-wide basis.

  • Ability to foster an interactive and collaborative environment, to influence individuals or groups with diverse opinions, and enlist cooperation without direct control/authority while building high-performanceteams committed to accomplishing initiatives in ecosystems that may be resistant to change.

Pay Range is $73.25 to $117.20 / hour

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
