Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking a Manager, Master Production Scheduling 3 to lead the Production Engineering Master Production Scheduling Team for the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division. This position will be located in Roy, Utah . Northrop Grumman Strategic Systems Division supports the Air Force's sustainment, modification, development, production, and deployment of strategic systems. Division program portfolio includes the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground Sustainment Support Contract (GSSC), Advanced Programs (AP), Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Programs, and the Sentinel Program.

What You'll Get To Do:

The Master Production Scheduling (MPS) Manager 3 is a senior level leader with accountability to the SDS Division Director of Production Engineering. As the Manager of MPS, your team will provide support to multiple Programs within the Strategic Deterrent Systems Division. This role will require the candidate to manage a department within Production Engineering while providing the people, skills, processes & training for successful achievement of program, division, and corporate goals.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of foundational manufacturing processes, Master Production Scheduling processes, Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering , encompassing knowledge of production schedules, manufacturing calendars, Material Management and Accounting system (MMAS), earned value management (EVM), Manufacturing Readiness Assessments, Production Readiness Reviews, product lifecycle management, cost center structuring, Material Resource Planning (MRP) manufacturing execution systems (MES) knowledge, and product configuration management.

The responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Manages the team that develops MPS requirements, performs technical planning, development, integration, verification and validation, and evaluates cost and implementation/program risk impacts. Additionally, maintains the program MPS (Master Production Schedule) by using specialized knowledge in all areas of manufacturing, planning scheduling technologies, and material requirement planning to coordinate demand with resources to achieve an overall level workload in each manufacturing facility, cost center and deployment/field site to ensure optimal production/delivery rates.

  • Prepares, develops, and coordinates the Master Production Schedule in parallel with the Integrated Master Plan (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to meet all program objectives.

  • Ensures major program schedules and plans are horizontally and vertically integrated across company functional groups including finance, business management, engineering, material, manufacturing, production, and quality.

  • Maintain Master Schedule databases to support Material & Shop Operating systems, and MS Excel/Project/Power Point files to generate a variety of reports including performance metrics, long range strategic plans, manpower requirements, and rate tool analysis, etc.

  • Knowledge and experience with learning curves, capacity, and rate tool analysis as well as other Industrial Engineering and estimating/forecasting tools.

  • Knowledge of the Earn Value Management System (EVMS), Material Requirement Planning, and Shop Floor Control Systems is desired.

  • Understanding the principles and fundamentals of Industrial Engineering, SAP Work Centers/Capacity Data, Time Standards, Scheduling, Earned Value principles, and principle of capacity (efficiencies, standards, constraints, etc).

  • Knowledge of manufacturing flows and how they interface with shop floor and Global Supply Chain

  • Engage and collaborate with programs and functional organizations to obtain, understand, and interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements.

  • Work with functional team to understand scheduling requirements at implementation site.

  • Ensures MPS is integrated with engineering and business systems (cPLM, SAP and MES)

  • Work with business systems integration group to design and implement process improvements that require system configuration or modifications.

  • Work with business systems integration group on system tool installation and preliminary test.

  • Develops necessary scheduling reports and metrics to enable management decisions.

  • Creates metrics to measure how each program MPS complies with the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Material Management and Accounting Systems (MMAS) criteria.

  • Tracks plans and schedules, performs risk analysis, identifies and resolves critical path and network logic conflicts.

  • Analyzes schedule for critical path, recognizing implications of changes and assists in the development and incorporation of work-around plans into the schedule when change is required.

  • Utilizes Gantt, PERT milestone charts, EVM and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant professional experience or Master's Degree with a minimum of 6+ years of relevant professional experience. 4 additional years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Security Clearance .

  • Must be able to attain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP) within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in engineering or manufacturing

  • 3+ years of experience managing or leading people or projects.

  • 3+ years of experience in a formal lead/management position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with developing and maintaining a Master Production Schedule for an Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) program as well as a high-rate production program.

  • Experience leading an Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering team in an EMD and production environment.

  • A proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for change.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of Manufacturing, Production, Program, Engineering, Functional Support Management, and Professionals.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project and Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules and high delivery rates.

  • Aerospace / ICBM Industry Experience.

  • Knowledge and experience with Production Estimating functions.

  • Experience working with Systems Applications and Products (SAP).

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Management Plan requirements and transitioning to production.

  • Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel.

  • Demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.

  • Ability to effectively work within a team environment.

  • Active DoD Secret clearance and applicable SAP accesses.

Salary Range: $156,000 - $234,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
