Indian Health Service Physical Therapist in Rosebud, South Dakota

Summary This position is located in the Rosebud Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Rosebud, South Dakota. The purpose of the position is to provide physical therapy services, consultation and education within the Rosebud Service Unit. This position is being announced concurrently under the Excepted Service/Merit Promotion procedures. Please review vacancy announcement number IHS-24-GP-12267734-ESEP/MP. Responsibilities Assesses, plans, participates and provides physical therapy programming to reduce pain, increase strength, restore function, improve mobility and flexibility, and prevent and/or correct disability. Provides routine and complex services for patients with cerebral palsy, poststroke, all fractures, post-surgical cases, open-heart surgery, total hip and knee replacements, etc. Develops treatment plans based on general information in consult, patients' physical and mental conditions, cooperation, and various psychological factors. Observes and evaluates patient's functions. Implements treatment to individuals or in groups. Remains cognizant of potential hazards and problems inherent physical therapy treatment to prevent harm to the patient. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): OPM Link - Physical Therapist Series 0633 (opm.gov) Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level AND/OR three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-11: Experience in a hospital, clinic or healthcare setting performing a wide range of physical therapy services such as: conducting patient evaluations for physical therapy; developing a plan of care; exercising modalities appropriate to carrying out the patient plan of care; completing re-evaluations of care plans and communicating progress notes to referring physicians. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Education This position has an education requirement. Additional Information Incumbent may be required to sign a formal agreement to be assigned to work for the Tribe. Per IHS policy (SGM 21-04) IHS selectees to positions located in Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption. If an exemption is approved then wearing a face mask and regular testing for COVID-19 will be required.
