GENERAL ACCOUNTANT

Well established Rochester company seeking an Accountant to add to their dynamic accounting team. This is a group of high performers that the new Accountant will be able to learn from and develop under their guidance. This position is responsible for timely and accurate accounting and reporting of financial information. This is an on-site role in a collaborative office setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews, records, and reconciles transactions .

Updates and maintains Accounting SOPs.

Works with external and internal auditors on audit requests and documentation.

Prepares and reconciles all Sales & Use tax returns along with verifying that accurate sales tax identification is on file with states that require us to file. Keep current with all tax changes.

Prepares and processes weekly freight bills for accuracy in charges and billings to customers.

Prepares monthly Sales by Destination report for both domestic and foreign sales, balancing totals to the financial statements.

Verifies customer tax information status and updates the customer master database.

Prepares new files at year-end.

Fixed Asset Accounting - analyzes and controls CIP/capital projects, PP&E and Depreciation and maintain the M3 asset System.

Prepares account analysis on freight, sales tax accruals, sales, assets and others.

Prepares journal entries as needed.

Reviews Customer Advance payment records for invoicing and payment status.

Prepares special reports or projects as requested.

Acts as back up and assists with customers on credit issues and cash collections.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associates degree in accounting or business, plus 2 years of experience in General Accounting. Exceptional Microsoft Office skill.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
