JOB TITLE: BENEFITS COORDINATOR

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Benefits Coordinator is a position that will allow the selected candidate the opportunity to be exposed to various competencies within the organization. The Benefits Coordinator supports the overall objectives of the global finance, accounting, and HR departments located in Roanoke, VA. The position will be responsible for benefits accounting and numerous other duties. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products, and the ability to learn various accounting applications and participate in implementation of new technology.

• Design and implement data collection method for required annual 1095-C reporting while also maintaining necessary internal processes.

• Submit all filings required by the Affordable Care Act and work with the IRS to resolve any errors encountered.

• Calculate annual health insurance costs and provide the data for form W-2.

• Reconcile, review, and approve invoices from service providers for AP processing.

• Serves as an internal contact for employees as needed relating to benefits.

• Gather data and distribute payments to employees who have met Employee Wellness program requirements.

• Analyze current benefits, evaluating the usage, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs and identify company’s benefit strategy.

• Participate in the design of employee benefit plans by investigating new benefit programs, and assisting in the improvement of current programs.

• Reconcile employee benefit deductions against premiums owed and determine adjustments needed.

• Maintains a supportive team relationship with the Payroll and Human Resource Departments.

• Ensure accurate and timely compliance with applicable government regulations.

• Accounting duties related to assigned accounting areas; monitor, maintain, and reconcile assigned accounts.

• Perform other duties as assigned that support the objective of the position.

• The skill to analyze data and compile reports as required by management.

• Exceptional organizational skills needed to effectively coordinate and complete a variety of tasks in a timely manner.

• Be able to comprehend and follow instructions and be able to multi-task.

• Maintain a fast work pace and high-volume work load.

• Be a strong team player and able to take initiative on projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent supported by a minimum of two years of accounting or related experience; preferred college coursework in accounting or business.

• Working knowledge of basic human resource and payroll functions.

• Must be strong and proficient with Microsoft products including but not limited to Excel and Word.
