Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Completes a broad range of difficult assignments requiring specialized accounting training and experience. May be assigned to a specific project, to a section of the Finance or another department, or may be assigned to complete tasks at a field location. The Account Exec at this level works independently in completing assigned tasks. This is the first exempt-level position where the Accountant regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Audits accounts and other financial information for completeness, accuracy and legitimacy of charges, and conformance with accounting procedures.

• Generates and analyzes periodic financial reports, making recommendations regarding status of reserves and assets.

• Closes the general ledger for each period, prepares financial statements, and completes a detailed analysis of account balances.

• Prepares selected tax returns, financial reports, or other reports for government agencies, clients, or senior management.

• Develops and recommends improvements to accounting methods and procedures for area of responsibility.

• May travel to remote field sites to conduct audits or to assist field personnel in the execution of their duties.

• Provides guidance to lower-level Accountants and Accounting support personnel.

• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics, Business (or equivalent) and typically 3+ years of related work experience. CPA preferred but not required.

• SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

• Requires a proficiency in standard accounting techniques and principles, strong written and oral communication skills, and a proficiency in PC software packages typically associated with accounting.
