Position Description

Job Summary

What’s the Job?

Role is responsible for Industry 4.0 (I4.0) for Insulation manufacturing. This will entail working with the plants and business to help develop a I4.0 strategy and roadmap for each Insulation facility that fits within the overall Interior Products Group (IPG) I4.0 strategy and goals. The execution of the roadmap will entail this role to project manage key projects, and support projects that can be executed solely by the plants. The role will also drive not only continuous improvement of execution post implementation, but also champion the continuous improvement of the systems as a I4.0 champion and voice for Insulation manufacturing. The candidate will also provide innovation and leadership to identify additional opportunities in I4.0. As part of the Advanced Manufacturing Team the role will assist as needed outside of the Insulation business with I4.0 within the Interior Products Group. All the above will be done in a manner consistent with CertainTeed Vision, Mission, Values, and Objectives.

Essential Duties

Champion Safety by leading by example, ensuring any developed tasks have been assessed for risk, and proactively address risks identified. Actively participate in company EHS programs

Key focus of role is determining how to leverage I4.0 within Insulation manufacturing. This will require assessing the gaps and identifying opportunities by engaging all levels of the business from plant floor to business leadership. Will help build a strategy and individual plant roadmaps to achieve I4.0 goals and obtain measurable financial benefits for the company in addition to other benefits for both plants and employees. Lead execution of the developed strategy to achieve and sustain results.

Critical to role is ability to lead by influence through active engagement, clear communication, and creating ownership with employees and leadership. Building and maintaining credibility with the organization is required.

Develop and maintain active subject matter expert network, currently identified as I4.0 Champions, across manufacturing locations to improve system utilization and provide continual improvement opportunities.

As a member of the Advanced Manufacturing Team the position will champion and provide a voice for manufacturing plants to assist in identifying opportunities and needs to assist in developing an effective I4.0 strategy for IPG.

This position is also responsible for effectively developing, planning, directing and coordinating assigned projects associated with Interior Products Group Advanced Manufacturing

Will provide leadership, design, manage execution, and be responsible for budget and financial forecasts of any assigned projects.

This position will collaborate with plants and corporate leadership to ensure projects and initiatives are aligned and appropriately prepared to deliver on company goals.

Provide support to manufacturing with the Advanced Manufacturing I4.0 initiatives and projects.

Drive and lead by example a Data Driven Decision Making Culture.

Other duties and responsibilities

Responsible for managing costs within the approved budget.

Planning and scheduling of assigned projects.

Interacts with managers and supervisors at plant and corporate personnel to secure appropriate resources to plan and implement projects.

Provides training for plant management and team members as needed.

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed and / or requested by management.

Collaborates with global internal and external Industry 4.0 resources to assure Best Practice implementation within our facilities.

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Information Technology.

  • 8 years in a insulation manufacturing or glass manufacturing environment.

  • Understand the manufacturing workflow at a manufacturing facility and identify areas where I4.0 could enable improvement.

  • Flexible, open-minded team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving capabilities to work effectively in corporate, manufacturing, and team environments.

  • Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Authorized to work in Canada and USA; Ability to travel up to 25-30%

Preferred or desired qualifications

  • Familiarity with Insulation manufacturing processes, products, and business

  • Experience in Change Management.

  • Knowledge in the use of manufacturing systems software and analytics.
