We are seeking a Senior Visual Designer to join our Windows and Devices Design Studio , a team at the forefront of shaping the future of technology during the critical AI revolution. As a Senior Visual Designer, you will tackle complex visual and interaction design challenges. These challenges require creative solutions that blend beauty with functionality in delightful ways. Your role will focus on refining and evolving our design systems, ensuring they align with the rapid advancements in AI and technology. By solving these intricate problems, you will help shape intuitive interfaces that enhance user experiences across a diverse range of devices and platforms. Your contributions will directly influence how seamlessly our products integrate into the daily lives of people around the globe.

You will work closely with other talented designers within the Windows design team and across the company to create cohesive and aesthetically pleasing experiences. Responsibilities

  • Evolve the Windows operating system’s visual language to align with the age of AI, ensuring it remains intuitive, accessible, and forward-thinking in a rapidly advancing technological landscape.

  • Collaborate harmoniously with product management , visual and interaction designers, content creators, engineers, and user researchers to shape world-class components, patterns, and design documentation.

  • Champion design solutions by aligning them with business and user objectives. Deliver exceptional interaction and visual designs—from initial concept to final implementation.

  • Solve complex design problems in simple and intuitive ways, blending brand personality, visual elements, motion, and sound to create delightful experiences.

  • Present your design concepts to leadership , actively influencing product decisions in favor of human-centered design enhancements.

  • Deliver world-class interaction and visual designs from initial concept through to shipping.

  • Activate cultural change , invest in personal and team growth, mentor colleagues, and advocate for a customer-centric mindset while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design

  • OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm for an iterative design process and human-centered design.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Figma by creating comprehensive UI kits, with a practical understanding of Tokens, Variables, Variants, Prototyping, and more.

  • Exhibit visual design capabilities, along with the ability to apply and evolve a design language.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize design solutions from ambiguous concepts.

  • Knowledge of groundbreaking applications, the latest UX metaphors, and a desire to continue learning.

  • Showcase a portfolio that reflects your expertise in conceptualizing and actualizing delightful, meticulously crafted products and experiences. We seek portfolios that exhibit a refined approach to visual design and systemic thinking. The ideal candidate should not only be capable of producing stunning designs but also possess a discerning UX mindset.

  • Possess exceptional UI design skills, with a sharp focus on visual details.

  • Engage in a design-centric team that operates across intricate product ecosystems. Lead efforts to align multiple teams towards a cohesive experience strategy. Develop experience documentation and facilitate the adoption of a unified UX approach.

  • Inform product decisions with a balance of qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Excel in collaboration and interpersonal interactions, with meticulous attention to detail and the capacity to communicate your work effectively across various disciplines.

  • Experience or willingness to learn front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), or other prototyping tools.

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
