The Microsoft News team, which delivers MSN, MSN Apps, Edge DHP/NTP experiences for Windows 10, is seeking a Principal Program Manager to drive a strategic initiative for the organization. You will be responsible for driving deeper partnership with Bing and own a set of projects that enable us to select and rank news content for our millions of users. You will work closely with engineering team and data scientists to define and refine ML models for content selection and ranking. You will also work closely with other partner teams to drive taxonomy, ranking, relevance and personalization of news content.
As a Principal Program Manager, you will own and drive the life cycle of new features from high level concept to operational delivery and beyond. You will work within a PM team helping define solutions & driving collaboration with internal and external partners and engineering. Day-to-day responsibilities range from creation / basic design of new product features through clear, robust specifications, driving them to delivery, communicating well with internal and external partner teams, and managing expectations appropriately. This is a high visibility role where you will be responsible for providing regular updates to VP and LT, so a great degree of exec maturity is required.

Collaborate with our partner teams in Bing, Microsoft News, Office, and across Microsoft to understand their uses for news content and priorities.
Generate product ideas, define requirements, and work closely with engineering teams to launch exciting new features across devices and web.

Provide exemplary project leadership in an exceptionally challenging and rewarding environment.
Work with other internal and external teams to forge new partnerships that help contribute to our business.
Plan and lead project reviews with cross-organizational leadership.
Drive products from conception to delivery in production.
Ability to be creative in solving problems taking into account technical details & limitations.
Knowledge of Microsoft PM practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated track record for successfully driving projects across multiple groups with heterogeneous release processes.
Ability to effectively influence groups outside of your direct management chain to achieve desired results.
7+ Years’ experience in Program or Product Management.
Bachelor’s degree in CS or related engineering field.
Experience delivering software on multiple platforms strongly preferred.
Experience with service-oriented architectures a plus.
Experience with analytics, data mining, and AI/ML is a plus.
