Brown University Research Assistant in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

Manage research activities in the Virtual Environment Navigation Lab, including coordinating workflow in the lab, supervising undergraduate research assistants, recruiting and scheduling human subjects, preparing and performing VR experiments, coordinating data processing and analysis, maintaining and troubleshooting computers and VR equipment, ordering equipment and supplies, and record-keeping.

This is a 100% grant-funded, fixed-term position, the end date of which may be extended based on renewal of grant funding/research and satisfactory work performance.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, or Cognitive Neuroscience with 1-2 years of related research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strongly preferred: Laboratory experience in experimental research on human behavior

  • Strong technical skills, familiarity with managing computer software and hardware, familiarity with VR applications such as Unity

  • Strong data analysis skills, familiarity with applications such as Matlab, R or Python

  • Highly organized, very responsible, good time management

  • Works independently, sees what needs to be done without waiting to be told what to do

  • Works with a team, has good interpersonal communication skills and a high degree of professionalism

  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
