Brown University Research Assistant in Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

The Research Assistant at the School of Public Health’s Department of Health Services Policy & Practice joins a vibrant team supporting the activities of the Department and related projects. The Research Assistant is involved in fast-paced non-laboratory research aimed at examining the performance of health systems around the world. Current topic areas include mapping patient care trajectories, global pharmaceutical spending and accessibility, social spending and health, health inflation, and climate change and health.

The Research Assistant works closely with the Professor (PI) and other research team members on a wide range of project-related tasks, including data collection, simple data analysis, literature reviews and synthesis, drafting of reports, organization of project materials, and assistance with development of research proposals. The Research Assistant conducts structured interviews, interacts with remote team members, coordinates project communications, and develops scientific reports and presentations. This individual works as part of a team to compile and analyze information using a variety of statistical software applications. The position also performs additional related tasks as necessary. All tasks may be performed independently and/or without direct supervision in an on- or off-site location.

EducationRequired: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) with 1 year experience in health services research (or related field). This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses a computer which results in repetitive motion.

Physical Demands:This is largely a sedentary role that involves sitting most of the time. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures.Additional physical demands and working conditions: Hybrid EligibleAll candidates must possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.All offers of employment are contingent upon a criminal background check and education verification that are satisfactory to Brown University.This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 6/30/2025 which may be extended based upon available funding.
